Huge lag spikes.
« on: July 17, 2012, 12:34:10 PM »
Hello i'm not sure if this should be on this forum, if no, forgive me.

The thing is, i've got a map with a worldborder of 4000 radius filled so my dynmap can render the whole map, i'm experiencing huge lags when people moves and according to nolagg it's from loading chunks from files:

Total duration: 1058.081 ms / 500 ticks
Average duration: 2.116 ms/tick
Selected server operation: Loads chunks from file
Server branch: #Chunk creation

Is this fixed on newer versions of CB? I'm using version 91 ( working on a new server with the last cb version tho ), is there any way to fix it ?

Thanks.

is it due to dynmap still loading the chunks in order to render them?
If anyone notices errors in my posts, please do tell.

One thing to try since you're using WorldBorder - have it go ahead and generate all the chunks if it hasn't.

You can use the /wb fill command to do so. You may have already done so, but if not, that's putting a lot of extra strain on your server.

If not that, then please post your server specs, average number of players, etc. The more info, the better.

I've done it alrdy, the server has :

4gb RAM and the lag starts as soon as there's like 14-16 people online.

According to nolagg it's caused by "loads chunks from file" could it be the hdd?

Quite possibly. Depending on how big the world is, you could try putting it on a RAMdisk. That will take most of the strain off of your HDDs.
