SimCraft Texture Pack for Minecraft 1.2.5
« on: April 06, 2012, 06:03:25 PM »
About

The SimCraft Texture pack took 3 months to complete and work on the texture pack started after completion of the firs phase for the SimCraft mod soon to be released. The mod had so much to offer that a new texture pack had to be created from scratch to fit nicely in with the mod.

The Texture pack is photo realistic HD pack and includes changes to everything, nothing has been left out and every single texture has been changed. Some very nice features you can expect when you use this pack are;

- Custom water and lava animation;
- Realistic building blocks
- Realistic Items
- Customized weapons and armor
- Brand new HD mobs
- Complete overhaul of the menu system
- Everything fits seaming less together.

The Texture pack can be used on it's own and support for your favorite mods will follow in the form of HD textures that fits in with this pack.

Installation

To install the HD Texture packs you will need to install or patch your minecraft with either of the below first.

MCPatcher

MC Patcher is a very nice tool you can use to quickly patch your minecraft jar to allow you to use Texture packs above 16bit. For those unfamiliar with mcpatcher you can also use mcpatcher to run your minecraft with more memory allocated to it, there's a nice built in setting just for that.
You can find mcpatcher here.

Optifine

I personally like optifine very much, there's no automatic patch, but you can choose between 3 versions according to what pc setup you have and I've been using optifine for months now. The installation unfortunately have to be done manually please follow there instructions carefully.
You can find Optifine here.

Both version do have support for Modloader and forge and they do edit the same client base files.

Now download the pack with your desired resolution and either copy them into your texturepack directory which can be found under your .minecraft directory or while inside the game open the browse in your game and browse to where you have saved the texture pack and click open, the pack will be copied to your texturepack dir and selected as your current texturepack.

Now you are ready and can play your game using the SimCraft Texture pack

Notice:

If you do find your system is really giving your loads of problems when using HD textures and you lagg like you can't imagine try running your minecraft with a custom executable bat file follow steps below.

1) Download the minecraft client jar from minecraft.net found here.

2) Using windows explorer right click in the same directory as where you have copied the jar into and create a new file called start.bat

3) Edit the start.bat file with notepad and add following code

Code: [Select]
@ECHO OFF
java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
pause

If you have more memory you can increase the 2048 to more 3072/4096 etc. Save the file and exit

4) Now run the start.bat file by double clicking on it enter your username and password and click on login your game will start and you will see that your memory has been increased by pressing F3 ingame.

The 64x version is a very fine and nice balance between quality and performance and worth laying if your pc is not up to running the below versions.

(128x128) DOWNLOAD LINK:
This would be my recommended version if you run it in conjunctions with the SimCraft mod, it's really good looking and doesn't demand that much performance from pc.
