Power consumption of Quantum armour
« on: February 14, 2012, 09:43:08 AM »
Hi folks,

I spent levels 10 to 40 today, locked in a room with two cave spider spawners and a lot of horrible little things with too many legs.

My nanosabre needed to be recharged several times but at the end of the session my quantum boots, legs and chest had consumed only 1 damage level of energy. In another experiment, I waded into a lava pool with a fist full of empty cells and spent several minutes in there, collecting lava. When I wandered out, my quantum armour showed no dip in the charge level.

I would've expected the armour to require charging more often. Anyone else feel that the quantum armour is currently burning far less juice than it should be?

Disco/reco the energy level is the same.
Put in MFSU and it sucks about about 100k-150k EU which is expected.

Sometimes if I die then I find the lappack and tool I was holding are now empty. But that's a different problem.

Sounds odd, but maybe it's just too strong in 1.64? Did someone try it in SP?

You may be correct. I just copied my server world and ran it in SSP.
The first wave of cave spiders knocked all items from :1 to :2.
After sitting in the same room for ~20 levels, all armour pieces except the helmet are still at :2.
I even changed the difficulty from Easy to Normal then to Hard and didn't notice any difference. Perhaps cave spiders don't do more damage at higher levels, relying on their poison (which the quantum suit protects against)?
I'll just enjoy it until someone changes it :)
