BuildCraft's pipes are similar to conveyor belts.  MightyPork's PowerCraft has conveyor belts, but last I knew, he didn't have SMP ready for it (though he does want to do it).  A Bukkit port of that would obviously still be further down the road.

Minefactory Reloaded has cool conveyor belts. I already created a port-request-thread.
